Privacy Choices
SetWise is local-first. These are the controls and choices available for private iCloud sync, independent backup, restore, deletion, and connected Apple services.
Private iCloud sync
SetWise 2.1 and other iCloud-enabled builds can synchronize durable training data through your private iCloud database. This can include completed workouts, workout programs, exercise definitions, recovery check-ins, and active workout state.
SetWise does not create a SetWise account or operate a custom workout-data backend. Private CloudKit records are associated with your Apple Account and are handled by Apple's iCloud infrastructure.
If iCloud is unavailable, SetWise remains local-first. Core workout logging can continue on the device without network access.
Work offline
You do not need an internet connection to start, edit, finish, or reopen a normal workout. SetWise saves the working state locally first and lets iCloud reconcile durable records when connectivity is available.
The Data & iCloud screen can report iCloud availability, but availability alone does not mean every recent record has already synchronized.
Create an independent backup
Synchronization is not a backup because edits and deletions can synchronize too. In Settings → Data & iCloud, choose Export to create a versioned SetWise JSON backup that is independent of CloudKit.
You choose where the exported file is stored or shared. Keep a copy somewhere you control if you want a recovery point separate from iCloud synchronization.
Preview and restore a backup
SetWise shows a restore preview before changing app data. Merge adds compatible durable records without intentionally replacing the current store; Replace is the destructive recovery option and should be used only when you intend to replace the current durable dataset.
Review the preview and warnings before proceeding. You can cancel the restore flow without changing your current data.
Delete SetWise data
Use SetWise Settings to delete app data when you want to remove the durable SetWise dataset. In an iCloud-enabled build, deletion of synchronized records can propagate through your private iCloud database to other devices using the same Apple Account.
Deleting the SetWise app from one device does not necessarily remove records that are already stored in your private iCloud database. Apple provides iCloud account and storage controls in system Settings.
Backup files that you exported to Files, iCloud Drive, another cloud service, or another app remain under the control of those destinations until you delete them there.
Exercise guide media
When you open an exercise guide online, SetWise may request the exact reviewed demonstration media from the SetWise media host and may cache it locally.
Those media requests do not include your workout history, recovery data, program details, or SetWise backup contents. If the reviewed media is unavailable, SetWise can show a safe placeholder instead.
SetWise Pro purchases
SetWise Pro is a one-time non-consumable purchase handled by Apple. SetWise does not receive or store your payment-card information.
If you already purchased Pro with the same Apple Account, use Restore Purchases in SetWise when needed.
